Poet, playwright, movie producer, and journalist, John Ronan is a man of many talents. A former poet laureate of Gloucester, he has received national honors for his poetry and was named a National Endowment for the Arts Fellow for 1999-2000.  His book, Marrowbone Lane, was “Highly Recommended” by the Boston Authors’ Club in 2010.

John founded the media company American Storyboard and produced Gloucester’s Adventure: An American Story which aired on WGBH-TV. He is also the host of  the Cape Ann TV talk show The Writer’s Block with John Ronan which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in the 2014-15 season.

Born in Gloucester, MA, Kathleen Miller is a self-taught artist who currently resides in Rockport. Growing up on Cape Ann, she was greatly influenced by the artists of Rocky Neck and Bearskin Neck. Since childhood, she has had in interest in drawing, painting, and other forms of art, and has developed these interests over the years. Although primarily self-taught, she has recently studied with several local painters. She enjoys painting on location as well as in the studio. Working primarily in oils, Kathleen paints a variety of subjects, focusing mainly on landscapes, seascapes and other scenes inspired by nature. Kathleen has a way of infusing herself into her scenes, and each of her paintings reflects her personal impression of the world around her.

In addition to being an artist, Kathleen is also a Mental Health Therapist. She utilizes many art and expressive therapy techniques in her practice, and she believes strongly in the healing properties of artistic expression both for the artist and the viewer. While drawing inspiration from the natural world, it is her intention to impart a sense of peace, hope and healing potential through all of her creative works.

Stealing Rembrandts in Massachusetts, March 25

Anthony M. Amore is a columnist with the Boston Herald and the head of security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum since 2005, where he is charged with efforts to recover 13 works of art stolen on March 18, 1990. He regularly blogs for The Huffington Post, drawing on his 15 years of national security, law, intelligence and crisis management experience with two federal government agencies, including his part in stopping the so-called “Shoe-Bomber” in 2001. Amore is also a trustee of the Association for Research into Crimes against Art and a lecturer in the study of art crime. He has appeared on NPR, FOX News, and many more. His latest book Stealing Rembrandts (co-written with Tom Mashberg) is a media hit. Sponsored by the Gloucester Lyceum.
